The province of Newfoundland has been represented by Heather Strong at the Tournament of Hearts for several years now. Now that all changed tonight.

Strong was defeated by skip Shelly Nichols, sister of Mark Nichols (third for Brad Gushue), in an 11th end of the provincial championship.

Nichols has played at a national level before, playing and winning the national mixed championship with Mark Nichols.
