Kevin Martin put off a great show for the crowd filling Rexall Place on Thursday night. The Martin vs. Howard battle is perhaps the best curling rivalry of our time. And as usual, it did not disappoint.

The two teams started the game by holding eachother to just single points. It wasn't until the fourth end that any multiple-point ends were scored. With Martin hanging on to a 2-1 lead, Howard grabbed a big three pointer in the fourth. Martin didn't let the big score knock him off his game, however, answering back with a deuce in the fifth.

The two powerhouse teams traded single points for the next few ends until Martin jumped ahead with a three-point end of his own in the ninth. This gave Martin a an 8-6 lead heading into the final end.

With the game so close, emotions started to boil over at this point. The intensity especially got to Richard Hart, who had a brief blow-up with Ben Hebert, who plays lead for Kevin Martin.

The Howard team tried to pull together for the final end, but Kevin Martin was just too strong and ran them out of rocks.

This gives Kevin Martin a first place finish in the round robin, giving him a bye to the championship match. Howard will now face Jeff Stoughton in the semi-final.
