Gushue shoots for playoffs spot in front of home crowd
April 19, 2008
Despite being one of the lower seeds in this tournament, Krista McCarville has proven that she has what it takes to be competitive in this extremely elite field. After losing back-to-back draws, McCarville rebounded in draw 12 to secure a quarter final spot.
That quarter final game was against Sherry Anderson, who has been undefeated up to this point.
McCarville certainly didn't let Anderson's flawless record distract her early on in this game. The young skip from Ontario stole a massive four points in end number one to take a commanding lead right out of the gate.

Anderson got right back on track in the second, getting her two points with the hammer. But McCarville struck back hard with another huge score in the third end, posting another three points to go ahead 7-2.
Anderson began to chip away at that lead, scoring one in the fourth and getting away with a steal of one in the fifth. Both teams then traded single points in the sixth and seventh to give McCarville a comfortable three point lead heading into the final end.
Anderson did a good job of putting the pressure on the young skip in that final end, and was sitting three rocks on the four foot, put McCarville palyed the take out, and made it good enough. Anderson still got a steal of two, but it wasn't enough to overcome that big lead. McCarville gets the win, 8-7.
This win moves McCarville into tomorrow's semi final against Cheryl Bernard. Sherry Anderson has now been eliminated from competition with this loss.
