Middaugh makes quarter finals, Jones eliminated
April 18, 2008
After a disappointing start to the week, Jennifer Jones has rebounded with back-to-back wins at the Players' Championship to even her record at 2-2. Sherry Middaugh is also at 2-2. This matchup sends the winner to the quarter finals and the loser goes home.
Jennifer Jones is playing on a high after winning two straight games and receiving the Team of the Year award at last night's award ceremony.
Jones got a good start to this one, picking up a point in the first end. She kept the offense coming in the second end where she stole two points to lead 3-0 after two.

Middaugh responded with a duce of her own in the third followed by a steal of two in the fourth. In the fifth, Jones still couldn't shut down Middaugh's offense, as Middaugh stole and third straight end to move ahead to a 5-3 lead.
In the sixth end, Team Jennifer Jones came back with a two points to tie it up at fives.
In the final end, Middaugh was up by one. She got a rock buried behind lots of cover, leaving Jones with a tough run back take-out for the win. The final stone overcurled just slightly, and the rock being run back slid just past the shot stone. This handed Middaugh the steal of one, and the victory. The final score was 7-5 for Middaugh.
For the first time since the TYLENOL Players' Championship included a women's event, Jennifer Jones' team has been eliminated. Middaugh has now secured a spot in the quarter finals.
